About

In Dra. Paola Sánchez's own words

"I treat obesity the way I would treat diabetes: as a chronic medical condition that needs ongoing attention. Some patients need surgery, some do not. My job is to figure out which is which — and to walk with you through whichever path is right."

I am the Obesity Medicine Director at Global Obesity Group. My role is non-surgical: I lead the medical management of obesity through Método 4 PRO, the multidisciplinary weight-loss program that I designed and continue to refine. About two-thirds of the patients I see are not surgical candidates, and about half of the patients who do go through surgery are followed by me for the 12 months that follow.

My own journey with weight informs my practice. I lost weight, kept it off, and learned firsthand that medical knowledge alone does not make change happen — the program around it does. That conviction is what Método 4 PRO is built on.

Método 4 PRO integrates four pillars: nutrition (personalized meal planning), psychology (habit change and coaching), physical therapy (movement adapted to body composition), and hormonal/metabolic health (endocrinology when needed). Patients are followed for a minimum of 12 months. Surgical patients enter the program before surgery and continue through it.

Medical Track

What Dra. Paola Sánchez treats

The medical track at GOG covers two groups: patients who do not need surgery and patients who do — through their 12-month follow-up.

Non-surgical weight loss

BMI 28–34 without major comorbidities. Método 4 PRO program, with or without GLP-1 medications.

Pre-surgical optimization

Patients heading into bariatric surgery — pre-op nutrition, medical clearance, comorbidity stabilization.

Post-bariatric follow-up

12-month program after sleeve or bypass: labs, supplements, nutrition, psychology, weight maintenance.

Metabolic + hormonal care

Insulin resistance, PCOS, thyroid dysfunction, postpartum recovery, menopause-related weight changes.

Why patients choose Dra. Paola Sánchez

Three things that differentiate this practice

1

Surgery is not always the answer

I see patients who arrive convinced they need surgery and leave with a medical plan instead. I also see patients who think they can avoid surgery and learn why a sleeve or bypass is the right call for them. The answer is personal.

2

Método 4 PRO designed in-house

Most weight-loss programs are templated. Método 4 PRO is built around the four areas I have seen matter most over thousands of cases: nutrition, psychology, movement, and hormones. We adjust per patient — not per protocol.

3

12-month post-op follow-up

For bariatric patients, the first year after surgery is when 80% of long-term success is set. I run that program. Patients see me at 1 week, 1 month, 3, 6, and 12 — by video for international patients.

FAQ

Common questions for Dra. Paola Sánchez

If your question is not here, the fastest way to a real answer is a 30-minute virtual consultation.

What is Método 4 PRO?
A 12-month structured weight-loss program built on four pillars: nutrition, psychology, physical therapy, and hormonal/metabolic health. It is the medical track at GOG for patients who do not need surgery, and the follow-up track for patients who do.
Do you prescribe weight-loss medications?
Yes. GLP-1 agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide) are part of the medical toolkit when indicated. They are not the first line for everyone, and they are not a substitute for the program around them.
Will you tell me I do not need surgery?
If that is what the case shows, yes. The opposite is also true — I will tell you when surgery is the better path. I do not have a financial incentive either way; my role is medical.
What does a non-surgical program cost?
Pricing depends on duration and whether medications are included. The first consultation establishes scope. We do not publish standard fees because each plan is built around the individual.
Do you work with international patients?
Yes. The medical track works fully by video for international patients — including monthly check-ins, lab review, and medication adjustment. In-person visits are optional, not required.
How does post-bariatric follow-up work?
After your surgery with Dr. Luna, Dr. Bernal, or Dra. Rodríguez, you are seen by me at 1 week (in person or video), 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. Labs at each milestone. Diet, supplements, and psychology support adjusted as you go.
